Family Legacy Goals

1.  Live and teach a commitment to a multigenerational vision for our family (Psalm 112:1-3, Psalm 78:1-8, Deuteronomy 5:29 , Psalm 89:1)

     A.  Future generations must move closer to God’s plan – not drift farther away (Psalm 115:13-14, Isaiah 59:21, Hebrews 2:1-3)

     B.  Constantly educate children that without diligent attention, these principles will be in danger of falling away and all future generations of our family are at stake (Psalm 78:5-8, Psalm 79:13)

2.  Develop 2 "charters" (one for sons/one for daughters) that will define Biblically-based expectations of members of our family  (Psalm 144:12-13, Psalm 103:17-18)

    A.  Develop and implement a plan to formally charge children (becoming young adults) with the applicable charter in a ceremonial setting in front of other Christians and family members  (Psalm 103:17-18)

    B.  Clearly ensure they understand their responsibility to pass the charter to future generations  (Psalm 145:1-4, Psalm 78:5-8)

3.  Develop, live, and pass on to our children the concept of "Team" Southerland as we are focused on our family as a group – not as a collection of individuals. (Psalm 133)

 Why "Team"?

When we refer to ourselves as "Team", we simply mean that we are a group of people the Lord has placed together with common goals and direction in life. We believe He has placed us together for a reason, and so we seek to stay together as much as possible. We enjoy our team and enjoy doing things together. Since we are a team, we're not spending time and money chasing individual goals and interests, but those of our team. Additionally, we hope to teach our children the importance of "Team" so they can enjoy the same thing in their families!
